Next to the miter box to trim to length and cut the body parts.
Here are a couple of gratuitous shots of my Guntershave, shaving pony and dowel plate as I attempted to make the called-for ¼” and 3/8” dowels from an offcut of pear.
I kept getting tearout when driving the pear blank thru the plate, so I decided to try it with black walnut. After half a dozen attempts in both woods, I gave up and turned one on the lathe in black walnut.
After seeing the photos of James Krenov’s user plane, I guess I shouldn’t have worried about the tearout…
I actually did the glue-up in stages. First, the rear body to one cheek, then the front body to the same cheek. Finally, I glued the other cheek. I have only this shot of the final stage.
