This study was conducted and written as an attempt to try to unravel the complex relationships that existed between the plane manufacturing companies of Hampton, Marples, Mathieson, Preston et al and eventually resulted in today’s Record Tools Ltd.  It includes details of the various smaller (and not so small) manufacturers that were subsumed and affiliated into each of these larger companies including dates and addresses where known.
