This saw was produced after 1865 and before 1871. In 1865 Hamilton Disston joined the company and shortly after the medallion with notation - Henry Disston & Son - of this even begun appearing on the saws. The 1871 date marks next expansion step of the company. Henry's second son, Albert Disston, joined the company and new medallions were produced with Henry Disston & Sons notation.

The Medallion: H. Disston & Son Philada.
Handle Fastening: One "small" brass screw at the top, Two "large" brass screws, and one medallion. Split nuts.
Teeth and TPI - 9 mark
The Handle: Beech, no original finish, three (3) brass screws with split nuts and one (1) medallion. Visual inspection: Blade pitted in several areas. Small amount of wood loss to tip of top and bottom horn. Small amount of wood checking. Approximately 25% original finish on handle. Notes: Blade lightly cleaned and oiled. Added linseed oil to prevent wood drying. |
