The Illustrated Carpenter and Builder from February 1, 1878 published a recipe for Wash or Dye for planes used by plane-makers.
Rub the plane with this, except the sole, leave for a week, rub it again with clean soft rug, then go over it with oil only and let dry for three or four days. Dragon's blood is a resin from the fruit of palm (genus Daemonorops).
